DEC. 12 – NICK VUJICIC

Nick Vujicic (pronounced Voy-A-chich) was born without arms or legs. Fortunately his parents did not name him “Matt.”

His mom and dad were devoted to providing him with the most normal upbringing possible, under the circumstances. He went to public school, learned to swim at 18 months, played football, skateboarded and was probably more active than most modern, electronically challenged kids who are fully limbed. He was bullied at school by idiotic, ignorant children, and considered suicide. But he didn’t do it out of love for his parents.

When his mother showed him an article about a man dealing with a severe disability, Nick realized finally that he was not the only person who had to overcome obstacles.

Then that boy was on fire, hons!!

He learned to write with his two toes, use a computer, throw tennis balls, play drum pedals, get his own water, groom himself, talk on the phone, ride a skateboard, surf, play golf and shave!!! I have all my limbs and can’t do some of those things!

He created his own non-profit organization Life Without Limbs.

He is an inspirational speaker and has helped countless others with disabilities. Yes, he’s gone religious. But, quite frankly, considering all he’s done, let’s not hold this against him. Especially with not quite so much to hold against!

This young man is admirable, not only with what he has done with his life, but the way he has taken his circumstances and created avenues to help others in similar situations, not just physical. And he’s darned good-looking as well.

So, hons, what do you say? Are you going to finish strong?
